This releases moves the server build expiration date to March 29th, 2012, and resolves bugs with multiple storage partitions and solo6x10 detection.

We’re working on big improvements to live streaming, code named “Awesome”.  This will improve quality, reduce bandwidth usage by 80%, and reduce CPU usage significantly.

Currently, we stream MJPEG to the client and web interface.  Our hardware compression cards support MJPEG for live viewing and H.264 for recordings.  This worked great for the beta, but as we’ve added support for network cameras, there have been problems with cameras that can’t stream MJPEG well. Instead, we’re going to stream the same video as recordings using RTP.

MJPEG is also terrible for bandwidth and CPU usage.  For example, a 30FPS HD stream with MJPEG is around 2500KB/sec of bandwidth.  With the new code we are working on, that will be reduced by 80%.  For analog cameras especially, this will also improve image quality and help avoid some corruption problems, and more importantly finally resolve the input switching that occurs during live view.

Note:  It is important that you upgrade to this release as soon as possible, as beta9.3 will expire shortly.  Beta 9.4 will expire on March 29th.
